Tournament matches will be conducted under the current IJF Contest Rules with modifications listed below.

Rule Modifications:
Coaching (IJF SOR 7.1, 7.2)
- Coaches are permitted to coach their players at any point during the contest.
- Coaches are permitted to video their players while in the coach’s chair as long as it does not disrupt the match.
Contest Area (IJF SOR 8.6)
- Contest area: 8 meters x 8 meters.
- Safety area: 3 meters with 4 meters between contest areas.
Judo GI (IJF SOR C)
- All contestants MUST have the correct Judo Gi. Failure to comply may result in contestant forfeiting their match.
- “Local” Judo Gi means that the judo gi should fit within reasonable tolerances in order to allow the opponent to properly grip (“Local” Gi fit). The Chief Referee or Tournament Director may ask the contestant to change to a properly fitting gi if the fit is not within reasonable tolerances, rather than forfeit the match.
- “Current IJF” Judo Gi fit means that the Judo Gi must meet the sizing of IJF SOR C1.10, however IJF Approved Judogi are not required.
- Tights may be worn by contestants as long as it does not impact the fit of the Gi pants.
Duration Between Contests (IJF SOR D6.2)
- Any athlete is entitled to one match rest between contests.
Determination of Winner after Golden Score time period (IJF SOR A1.6)
- If the contest is tied after a Golden Score time limit has been reached, the Referee team will determine a winner based on highest kinsa (near score) during regulation and golden score time periods.
Penalties (IJF SOR D.18)
The following penalties in the Bantam 1, 2, Intermediate 1 categories are modified to not be called:
- Shido for False Attack (IJF SOR D.18.1.1.2)
- Shido for Stepping Out of Bounds (IJF SOR D.18.1.1.5)
- Shido for Untying hair or Gi without Referee permission (IJF SOR D.18.1.3.32)
The following penalty, for all categories, is modified to not be called:
- Shido for Untidy Attire or Hair (IJF SOR D.18.1.3.33)
Medical (IJF SOR D20)
- “Local” Medical Rules (Cadet and younger Age Categories): Medical staff will be allowed to examine and injured contestant without disqualification.
- “Current IJF” Medical Rules” (Senior Age Categories): Examination by Medical staff will result in contestant disqualification.
