EACH AGE CATEGORY IS BASED SOLELY ON THE YEAR IN WHICH THE CONTESTANT WAS BORN.

For each category, a contestant must be born in the appropriate year as defined below. All Weights listed below are in kilograms. For each weight division, the weight range will be over the next lower weight and up to and including the weight listed.

Championship Divisions

• Naked weigh-in is no longer allowed for any category. To compensate, there will be a 0.1 kg allowance. 
• For example, in the 73 kg category, the limit will be 73.1 kg. This is a clothing allowance only and the 0.1 kg will only be added to the true weight. (i.e. -66kg athletes can weigh between 60.2 kg and 66.1 kg. Someone weighing 60.1 kg will be moved to the -60kg category and someone weighing 66.2 kg will be moved to the -73kg category)

Novice Divisions

• Contestants may select one of the weight divisions as a placeholder. This weight will be used to group the contestants in preliminary weight division (light, medium, heavy).
• When the contestant weigh in on the designated date, the actual weight will be used to create the final pools.

* Indicates the birth year of an athlete from the younger age group that has the option to move up to an older division.

Senior Categories

Championship Category

• Championship Category: Any athlete born in 2005 or earlier with a minimum rank of senior sankyu (brown belt) may enter the Championship Category
• Male: -60  -66  -73  -81  -90  -100  +100 kg
• Female:  -48  -52  -57  -63  -70  -78  +78 kg

Novice Category

• Novice Category: Any athlete born in 2005 or later and holding belt rank below brown belt may enter the Novice Category.  
• Weight divisions for Novices will be Light/Medium/Heavy.

Veterans

• Players will be assigned to an Age Division based on their year of birth.  A player must be born in 1993 or earlier and will be assigned to a four year age range as shown below:

• F1/M1  Ages  30 – 34   Year of birth 1989-1993

• F2/M2 Ages 35 – 39     Year of birth 1984-1988

• F3/M3 Ages 40 – 44     Year of birth 1979-1983

• F4/M4 Ages 45 – 49     Year of birth 1979-1978 

• F5/M5 Ages 50 – 54     Year of birth 1969-1973  

• F4/M4 Ages 45 – 49     Year of birth 1979-1978

• F5/M5 Ages 50 – 54     Year of birth 1969-1973 

• F6/M6 Ages 55 - 59     Year of birth 1964 -1968 

• F7/M7 Ages 60 - 64      Year of birth 1959 - 1963

• F8/M8 Ages 65 - 69      Year of birth 1954 - 1958

• F9/M9 Ages 70+          Year of birth  1953 or earlier

Veteran and All Novice Divisions

• Weight Categories: Light, Medium, Heavy (may be subject to change depending on bracket size). Tournament staff will attempt to create safe weight divisions based on the range of weights in each Category.
